Sustainable Woden Medals for Park Gate Colour Run
Share
Park Gate Primary host a yearly colour run; a mini marathon where runners are pelted with brightly coloured paints as they run around the course. It’s a fantastic community event and generates money for the school so we offered to help create some medals for those who took part.
In previous years they’d spent over £1250 to get generic plastic medals for the participants so they leapt at the chance to get some sustainable wooden medals from a local supplier especially with a bit more personalisation on them.
We created a draft design for the school to approve and after initial design approval created a prototype so they could see exactly what the final product would look and feel like.
On final signoff, we cut and engraved over 400 medals on our Aeon Mira 5s 60w Laser. This machine is a joy to use and very quickly got the job done after some tweaking of the speed settings.
The medals were made with special 3mm laser plywood so no toxic chemicals were involved that you might normally find in regular plywood plus eventually they could decompose if left outside rather than linger for 1000s of years like plastic products.
We cleaned up any burn marks and personally delivered them to the school ready for the big day.
The medals went down a treat and the event was a great success raising lots of money for the school and bringing together the local community for a really fun day for everybody.
It was a pleasure to help Park Gate Primary and now we feel confident about creating large orders of sustainable wooden medals.
I’ll be publishing a video here if you want to learn more about how we made the medals or if you would like us to make you some or just to have a friendly chat why not contact us
